T H E F A R M ...
This week the goal is to work off those extra Easter
calories with Calvin! While Ben and I kept Easter dinner simple (ham and
potatoes), we didn't skimp on sweet treats! Ice Cream, cookies, sweet
buns....the list goes on. Oh well, it's ok to be indulgent once in a
while right?
On the weekend, Ben and I took Cal to the Canada Agriculture and Food
Museum to see the animals. Ben grew up in a very rural area of
Ontario and we always knew it would be important to pass on those agricultural
roots to our son, especially considering we spend most of our time in the heart
of the City. While we got to see hundreds (literally!) of different
animals - sheep, goats, dairy cows, beef cows, chicks, rabbits, horses etc.,
Cal only wanted to see the hundreds of kids running around our legs and pushing
us out of the way to get a better view inside the animal stalls. Perhaps
we jumped the gun a little bit bringing him to a farm at six months!
Anyhow, Ben and I enjoyed the day as a family and the weather was
fantastic - Mr. Sun was out and it actually felt a little bit like Spring.
Ben and I are always brainstorming little outings like these when we get
a full day or two together as a family. Being cooped up in our condo can
get a bit monotonous at times.

Here's a tip, if you love sun as much as I do - VISIT MAUI!
How I long for sunny mornings on a veranda with a coffee in hand, delicious
spreads and pink flowers starring at me from the corner of my table. Ben
and I would talk about all the great ways we wanted to spend our time - drives
to Haleakala to watch the sunrise/sunset,
lounging on the beach, dinners at Humuhumunukunukuapuaa (crazy name
right!). We've made the long trip twice (2 years in a row) and I loved
every minute of it. There's something about Maui that makes you feel
careless, wonderful, adventurous...I could go on. Anddd then I became a
mom...I actually found out I was going to be a first-time mom two days before
our last trip to this paradise. While I would love to return soon,
somehow I just don't think Calvin would enjoy the twelve hour plane ride to
mommy's favourite vacation destination. Although I commend the many new mamas I
glanced at (ok....stared at!) during our last visit, I just don't think I could
do it. I promise however, that I will return one day....once flights get
a bit easier (I might be looking at another decade for the trip....).
Have you been to Maui? Where would you love to travel with/without
your little one? I'd love to hear your feedback!
